Fat Rendering with Wildfox Wellness

In this one-day hands on workshop, you will learn how to render fat into tallow, what are the different uses for tallow. You will also get to render your own tallow, make your own tallow balm and tallow candle. 

Rendering Fat – Course Outline

Intro – Go over the basics of rendering fat

• What is Tallow
• What does it mean to render fat
• What fat to use
• Handling and prepping the fat
• How to achieve best results
• Uses for tallow

Render Fat – Prepare fat to render

• Get far chopped and rendering in pot

Tallow Balm – Mix and prepare tallow to make balm

• Heat and mix tallow with olive oil and let stand to whip into balm later in course

Candle – Each student will take home 4oz candle

• Prepare candle tin
• Mix tallow and essential oils, if desired, poor into tin and let set

**Lunch**

Whipped Tallow Balm – Each student will take home 4oz whipped balm

• Whipped the mixture of oil and tallow
• Add essential oils, if desired, and put into individual tin
• Cover the properties and uses for tallow balm

Rendered Fat – Each student will take home 4oz tallow jar
